“…he wrote a book called ‘Battlefield Earth’ that was a very fun science fiction…”

Romney: too much of a dork to be president?

Having been one of the 8,000,000 who has read “Battlefield Earth,” I found it a very fun read and can appreciate Mitt Romney likewise enjoying the book. Random House Modern Library Readers Poll voted it #3 in the top 100 books of the 20th century. Thought this info would be of value.

To be fair, I haven’t read it. It may well be a fun read. But Romney didn’t just enjoy the book, it’s his _favorite book_.

The poll you mention places a total of 18 books by Hubbard, Robert Heinlein, and one Charles de Lint in the top 100. Not to disparage these very successful writers, but I wonder if some kind of fan pile-on might not have been organized.
